Span Architects comprises a collection of highly motivated design professionals committed to providing creative solutions to a wide range of architectural and interior design requirements.
We revel in the unique challenge of modern architectural practice; the need to respond to the context of Architecture in time and place; the desire to provide sensitive and stimulating environments for the people and the absolute necessity to ensure highly competent yet cost effective buildings be they sophisticated or simple.
Since its inception in 1979 Span Architects has grown under the tutelage of its senior partner, Hank Span to comprise 33 architects, project managers, interior designers and support staff with 30 CAD work stations, with our own in-house IT department. With professional standing in the Australian Institute of Architects, the firm has steadily built up a portfolio of impressive retail, commercial, industrial and residential developments both here and overseas.
Boasting an extensive client and project portfolio and supported by a selected group of professional consultants including project managers and quantity surveyors, Span Architects ability to evolve in a highly competitive environment is testament to our success.
Span Architects has systemised its experience and know-how into effective project control strategies which ensure minimisation of time and cost whilst maintaining high standards of design and client satisfaction. Our strategies draw on a collective wisdom and experience which enables us to tailor our services to meet specific demands.
Span Architects currently work for large public companies and government departments for which, over recent years, we have designed and delivered several large head offices facilities in the Melbourne CBD as well as many residential developments, both low rise and high rise, in the CBD, Southbank and St Kilda Road precincts and other inner city locations.
Our personnel are certified to determine energy ratings as per the Sustainable Authority of Victoria. Due to the recently amended Victorian Building Regulations all new housing developments are to achieve a 4 out of 5 star energy rating. We have achieved 5 stars in recent developments.
